Peter J. Kahn L'76

Peter KahnPeter Kahn is a partner in the Washington, DC law firm of Williams & Connolly LLP.  He joined the firm in 1976.  Mr. Kahn has extensive experience with litigation involving international disputes, both before American and foreign tribunals.  His international practice involves both civil and criminal matters including, but not limited to, extradition and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act cases, as well as business disputes and internal corporate investigations.  He represented the Israelis in the Jonathan Pollard spy case during the 1980s and the family of the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin following his assassination.

Mr. Kahn graduated cum laude with a degree in political science from Yale University in 1973, and from Duke Law School in 1976.  He has served on the Duke Law School Board of Visitors since 1995, including as chairman from 2001-07; on the Law School Dean Search Committee; and since 2007 as co-chair of the Law School's Law & Leadership Committee.  He has received the Charles A. Dukes Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service to Duke University, and the Dean's Alumni Achievement Award for Extraordinary Service, Commitment, and Dedication to Duke Law School.

He and his wife, Debbie, live in Bethesda, MD, and New York City.  Mr. Kahn has two children, Alyssa T'09, L'12 and Jake.

Mr. Kahn was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2009 and serves on the Business and Finance Committee and the Committee on Honorary Degrees.
