Gabriela Pereda is a senior pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, B.A. in Economics, and a minor in French. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, after her parents immigrated from Caracas, Venezuela. While at Duke, she studied abroad in Paris and Madrid. On campus, she is actively involved in Baldwin Scholars, SPIRE Fellows, and serves as President of the Latinx Business Organization. She is also a member of Business Oriented Women, DTech, and the Duke Financial Economics Center, where she mentors underclassmen. Pereda founded Humans of Duke, a publication strengthening the campus community by sharing diverse stories and worked as a teaching assistant in the Mathematics and Economics departments. Professionally, Pereda participated in Bain’s Building Entrepreneurial Leaders Program, Girls Who Invest, worked as a Summer Investment Analyst at The Baupost Group, and interned at Blackstone, where she will return full-time as a Real Estate Investment Analyst.
From the start of her undergraduate experience, Pereda has sought to make a lasting impact on Duke. After a challenging transition to college, she proposed initiatives focused on improving the first-year experience to leadership. Since then, she has contributed to Duke’s growth through student organizations, scholar programs, and mentorship. Engaging with diverse communities has strengthened her understanding of Duke’s needs and passion for institutional growth. Duke has been foundational to her personal and professional development, and Pereda sees the Young Trustee role as the most meaningful way to give back, ensuring Duke continues to thrive in innovation, opportunity, and excellence.
