Mychal Harrison

Mychal Harrison is a Managing Director at Huron Consulting Group where he leads their Special Situations Investment Banking practice.  With more than 19 years of experience in special situations investment banking and financial restructuring, Mychal has been instrumental in advising clients during their most important transactions.  He has helped clients transform their businesses by successfully executing balance sheet recapitalizations, divestitures of non-core assets, acquisitions, refinancings, private placements, and Section 363 transaction.  His ability to dissect complex challenges, devise and implement solutions, and drive consensus was instrumental in him receiving M&A Advisor’s 40 under 40 Emerging Leaders Award in 2015.

Mychal is a 2001 graduate of Trinity College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and a Certificate in Markets and Management. Since that time, Mychal has been a tireless volunteer for Duke University.  In addition to serving as Co-chair for his 5th, 10th, and 15th Reunions, Mychal is a member of the Duke Financial Economics Steering Committee and the Athletics Leadership Board. In 2013, Mychal joined the Duke Alumni Association Board of Directors and later would serve as a member of the Executive Committee and chair the Awards and Recognition Committee for two years.  On May 4th, 2019, Mychal was voted President-elect of the Alumni Association Board and officially became President on July 1, 2020.

In support of his belief that learning is a life-long experience, Mychal guest lecturers in the Economics Department, mentors student athletes on the football team, and has endowed a scholarship in his family’s name that provides underrepresented minority students studying Economics with grants to conduct research and to cover expenses related to attending conferences. Outside of his Duke activities, Mychal sits on the Board of Directors for the Beginning with Children Foundation, a charter school in Brooklyn, NY where one-third of all families earn less than $25,000/year.

Mychal resides in New York City. 

Elected to the Board of Trustees in 2019, Mychal serves on the Audit and Compliance Committee and the Undergraduate Education Committee. He is serving a four-year term on the board, two years as an observer and two years as a voting member.
