Michael J. Bingle E'94

Mike Bingle is currently the Vice Chairman of Silver Lake Group and a member of several of the firm’s investment committees. Silver Lake is a leading technology investment firm with approximately $83 billion of assets under management. Previously, Mike was one of the four Managing Partners from 2012 until 2020. Since joining the firm in 1999, he led many of the firm’s investments in financial technology, payments, information and data services, software, and ecommerce.    

Prior to Silver Lake, Mike was a principal at Apollo Management, then a large and generalist private equity firm. Prior to Apollo, he worked in investment banking at Goldman Sachs.   

Mike currently serves on several corporate boards including: Achievers, Blackhawk Networks, Fanatics, SoFi, and SolarWinds. Previously, he served the boards of Ancestry.com, Ameritrade Corporation, Credit Karma, Datek Online, Gartner Inc., Gerson Lehrman Group, Instinet, IPC Systems, Interactive Data Corporation, Mercury Payment Systems, and Virtu Financial. 

Mike is a trustee of Brunswick School in Greenwich, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a trustee of the US Olympic & Paralympic Foundation. He also co-manages the Bingle Foundation. 

In 1994 Mike graduated magna cum laude from Duke University with a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering. While at Duke, he received a fellowship from the National Science Foundation to do research in ultrasound technology. Previously Mike was a member of Duke’s Young Alumni Council and the Annual Fund Advisory Board. In 2004 he received the Charles A. Duke Award. Mike is currently the Vice Chairman of the Pratt Board of Visitors, and he’s a member of the Legacy Fund.  

Mike is married to Eryn Bingle, and they live in Riverside, CT with their three children. Their oldest son, Will, is entering the Duke Class of 2025 in the fall. 

Elected to the Duke University Board of Trustees in 2021, Mike serves on the External Engagement Committee.
