David is a proven leader with over 40 years of experience. He served as P&G’s Chairman, President & CEO from 2015 to 2021 and as the Executive Chairman of the Board from 2021 to 2022.

Today, David is a senior operating adviser at Clayton Dubilier & Rice LLC, a private-equity firm. He is also Chairman of the Board of Delta Air Lines, Chairman of the Board of Radio Systems Corporation – a CD&R Private Portfolio Company, and a board member of Nexii Building Solutions – a sustainable building products company.

During David’s tenure at P&G, he and the people of P&G transformed the company returning it to sustainable, balanced growth and value creation.

Together with his leadership team, David focused first on revitalizing P&G’s winning culture of high standards and accountability and raising the standards of excellence in everything the company does, most specifically in establishing a higher level of superiority across all elements of the consumer experience.

As a result of these actions and others, P&G grew its share of the market with balanced top-line and bottom-line results, returning the company to the top-third of its peer group in market total shareholder return.

Prior to becoming CEO, David was group president of P&G’s Global Beauty, Grooming and Health Care sectors with a portfolio of leading brands such as Crest, Oral-B, Head & Shoulders, Olay, Pantene, SK-II, Gillette, Fusion, Mach 3 and Vicks. David also led P&G’s Family Care and Home Care businesses, both of which delivered consistent profit and sales growth under his leadership.

David spent the first decade of his career in P&G’s Product Supply organization, giving him broad experience in manufacturing, logistics, engineering and supply chain operations. He then transferred to P&G brand management, where he helped build many of the company’s core businesses including Baby Care, Family Care, Hair Care and Home Care. He has led global businesses, living and working in North America, Europe and Asia.

David previously served as the Chairman of The Alliance to End Plastic Waste, a CEO-led, cross value chain initiative to advance solutions to eliminate unmanaged plastic waste in the environment. He also served on the boards of the U.S.-China Business Council and Catalyst. Earlier in his career, David was vice chair of the Greater China Quality Brand Protection Committee, a collaboration among top companies and the Chinese government.

Passionate about addressing food insecurity in the U.S., David served eight years on the Board for Feeding America, including two years as board chair. He continues to serve as a member of the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank.

David graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He has been a member of the Board of Visitors of the Fuqua School of Business since 2013 and the DKU Advisory Board since 2017.

Elected to the Duke University Board of Trustees in 2023, David serves on the External Engagement Committee.

David and his wife reside in Cincinnati, Ohio.
