Jim Zelter is President of Apollo Global Management, overseeing operations and key strategic initiatives across its asset management and retirement services businesses. Jim serves on the Firm’s Board of Directors.
Since joining Apollo in 2006, Jim has led the broad expansion of Apollo’s credit platform, and most recently served as Co-President of Apollo Asset Management. Jim also co-founded Apollo Women Empower (AWE), the Firm’s women’s network. Prior to Apollo, he was with Citigroup Inc. and its predecessor companies in a variety of roles, including Chief Investment Officer of Citigroup Alternative Investments. Before joining Citigroup, he was a high-yield trader at Goldman Sachs.
Jim earned a degree in Economics from Duke University. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Duke University, the university’s governing body overseeing its educational mission and fiscal policies, and was elected to that board in 2022, serving on its Executive Committee and Finance Committee. He also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of DUMAC, the investment management company that oversees the Duke University Endowment.
Beyond Duke, Jim serves on the Board of Directors of Partnership for New York City, the Board of Fellows of Weill Cornell Medicine, one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, and the Board of Directors of the Bridge Golf Foundation, which uses the game of golf to improve life outcomes for young men of color in Harlem, New York.
