Ms. Morton worked in the financial services industry for over thirty years. She joined J. P. Morgan in New York in 1978, and served fifteen years in the firm's Singapore, Hong Kong and London offices in roles ranging from foreign exchange trading to managing the firm's European private equity investments. In 1994, Morton joined Alex Brown & Sons in London as a producing office manager, covering large international institutions. She returned to the States in 1996 with Alex Brown and expanded her responsibilities through two subsequent acquisitions, first by Bankers Trust and then Deutsche Bank. At Deutsche Bank, she served as a managing director, responsible for managing the firm's top global relationships. In 2002, Morton moved to North Carolina with her family and joined Franklin Street Partners, where she was a member of the Management Committee and a member of the Board; she retired in 2009.
Morton is a member of the Duke University Board of Trustees. She also serves on the boards of the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, American Ballet Theatre, the Morgan Library and Museum in New York and With Honor.
Morton graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in political science and economics in 1977 and earned an M.B.A. in accounting and finance from the University of Pittsburgh in 1978.
She is married to Thruston Morton, Founder of Global Endowment Management, an investment management firm in Charlotte, NC, and former CEO and CIO of DUMAC, LLC. They have two daughters, Whitney and Catie.
Elected to the Duke University Board of Trustees in 2015, Ms. Morton is chair of the Graduate and Professional Education and Research Committee and a member of the Executive Committee and the Audit and Compliance Committee.
